A message from Diane Gilmour Programme Manager for Planned Care re Sussex Community Dermatology Service- SCDS

“Within both Crawley and Horsham and Mid Sussex CCG areas, we have a community based dermatology service which sees about 80-85% of all dermatology patients and conditions. This service is provided by one provider, (Sussex Community Dermatology Service- SCDS), has been in place for 3-4 years now and the contract expires March 31st 2014. The CCGs are considering the options for the next steps in continuing with a community dermatology service.

At the same time the service specification also needs to be reviewed and we are looking to recruit at least one  lay member from each CCG area , who has recently used or is using the service, to share their views and offer a patient perspective on the service now and in the future.  This review will be led by GPs and the CCG management team and will need to be completed and ideally signed off by the CCGs by the end of December. The work of the lay member will involve reviewing the current specification, offering your views on the service you had or are receiving, and identifying potential areas for improvement. This can be done virtually, face to face, via the phone or a mixture of all three.

If you are interested in supporting the CCGs with this important area of work then please contact Diane Gilmour Programme Manager Planned Care [email protected] or 01293 600300 ext 3076.

We look forward to hearing from you.”
